Another Golden Spider Web Award nomination for Splash

Will Splash have the X Factor at this Year’s Eircom Spider Awards?

Farranfore based Web Company Splash has been nominated for another National Website Award ‘The Eircom Spider Awards’ for their website www.printing.ie. The Eircom Spider Awards are the most prestigious of the web calendar and are seen as the Oscars for websites in Ireland. This is Splash’s fourth time being nominated and ninth time overall in National Awards. The Printing.ie website was designed and developed in-house by Splash.

All entries were subjected to a rigorous judging process. On this occasion Splash are in the ‘Retail Excellence’ category, which is for a website that demonstrates excellence in providing online customer solutions and retail sales of products or services. There is tough competition this year from TESCO Mobile, Magee Clothing, DID Electrical, Smyths Toys and Merlin Car Auctions.

Commenting Stephen Beynon, Chairman of the Judging Panel and Group Managing Director Consumer and Small Business, eircom said, “As always the judges had a tough job. The quality of the entries was phenomenal and we really had a challenge to pick a shortlist for each category”.

The winners of the 2010 eircom Spider Awards will be announced at a gala dinner on Thursday, 18^th November in the Burlington Hotel. Well-known comedian and TV personality Jimmy Carr will take to the stage to host the event.

“It is what every web company aspires to, to be recognised at a National level for your web work” remarked Laurence, Head of Web Development, Splash. “We are in a growth stage with two staff being added to our web team in 2010 and a new tourism based site being launched in December” remarked Marc, Web Business Manager, Splash. “Businesses are turning to the web as another sales channel and it is a big market out there to avail of”, remarked Stephen, Managing Director, Splash. At present 92% of the company’s business comes from outside of Kerry through their website, they do this with no sales offices or sales staff outside of Kerry.

Third eircom Golden Spiders Nomination for Printing.ie

We’ve just been nominated for our third eircom Golden Spider Award today. The Official National Website Awards are a celebration of the best websites in Ireland. We were first nominated in 2005, then in 2008 and now in 2009. We are over the moon with being recognised as a leader in the Professional website sector in Ireland.

The 2009 eircom Golden Spider Awards will take place on November 19th in Dublin. This years host is Comedian, Des Bishop.

The eircom Golden Spiders - Recognising Excellence in Internet & Digital Media

The eircom Golden Spider Awards are an annual event honouring Irish individuals and organisations for their outstanding achievements online and celebrating the successes of the Irish internet and digital media.

The awards not only reward Irish businesses and community organisations but also individuals for their creativity and innovation. The eircom Golden Spiders provide an important opportunity to recognise and showcase online excellence and are considered an important benchmark for distinction and merit in web-based business strategies. This year’s 20 categories range from “Internet Hero” to the overall “Grand Prix”, acknowledging the achievements across a wide range of industries - including Media, Entertainment, Sports & Leisure, Finance, Retail, Professional Services, Travel, Tourism & Hospitality and e-Business.

Although the eircom Golden Spiders have a strong business slant, the awards also recognise the importance of promoting internet usage within the community and award an accolade for “Best Community or Charity Website”.

2007 also saw the expansion of the “People’s Choice Award”. The general public were given an opportunity to nominate and vote for their favourite Social Networking and Community Website. This new People’s Choice Vote provided an interesting insight into what Irish Internet users thought about social networking and community sites.

The eircom Golden Spiders also introduced an award for “Young Talent of the Year” to recognise excellence in young innovative talent and providing an opportunity to excel within the industry.
The awards were judged by a prestigious panel of experts, comprised of leaders from industry, commerce, media and academia. The panel evaluates entries on a diverse range of judging criteria including content, structure & navigation, visual design, functionality, interactivity as well as overall user experience.

The Golden Spiders 2008

The Eircom Golden Spider Awards ceremony were held on Thursday, 20th November 2008, at The Burlington Hotel, Dublin. The event was attended by over 800 representatives from the fields of media, advertising, business, technology, entertainment, politics and the arts. The Awards were hosted by well-known Comedian Des Bishop.

This was our second time reaching the Golden Spiders finals. In 2005 the first edition of our website was nominated for the Best Shopping & Retail Website, in 2008 we were nominated under a different category Best Professional Services Website for our third edition of the site.
